City of Austin Republic Square: A Meeting Green-Space For All.
The guide for this new landmark in downtown Austin was the Republic Square Master Plan report created in 2013. The area between the existing park property line along San Antonio Street and the Federal Courthouse Plaza was considered part of the 1.8-acre park scope. The changing dynamics of Austin in recent years demanded an agora that would allow new downtown residents to gather, trade, and recreate.

Encotech was retained to provide MEP engineering services. Improvements to the site included utilities, lighting, streetscape design, site amenities, irrigation, and trees. The electrical scope required electrical systems and lighting. An electric panel was designed to allow for power to a restaurant Kiosk and support building. Stub-outs for wet utilities were set within 5’ of the new building pads.
For the Plumbing scope, Encotech designed above-grade plumbed fixtures, including drinking fountain connections and hose bibbs. Plumbing services also included water and wastewater piping load analysis, layout, sizing, and riser diagrams. A space was planned for a grease trap and was coordinated with sanitary service locations.
