AUX New Administration Building and Parking Garage: A Step Forward to the Austin’s Airport Expansion

The Administration Building and Parking Garage at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUX) adjacent to the existing Consolidated Rental Car facility and Terminal Building opened in 2019. The new 2.1 million-square-foot building and 6-level garage provided much-needed consolidated office space and 5,800 car parking spaces for airport staff and travelers.

The new 2.1 million-square-foot building and 6-level garage provided much-needed consolidated office space and 5,800 car parking spaces for airport staff and travelers.

The Administration Building offered office space to relocate existing AUX offices within the Barbara Jordan Terminal Building and free up valuable real estate to offer as leasable space. Encotech provided Mechanical and Plumbing engineering services to design systems in both buildings and Structural engineering services in the form of peer review for the Parking Garage. The mechanical scope included toilet exhaust and a small central plant with air handlers per floor. Plumbing design included fixtures, domestic cold, and hot water systems, sanitary piping, and stormwater (roof drain) systems—structural included a peer review of the design team’s building design and drawings.

Encotech’s team calculated domestic hot and cold water, stormwater, sanitary sewer, plumbing loads per code requirements. Sized piping. Routed plumbing piping scheduled plumbing fixtures and equipment. Additionally, Encotech coordinated design with other disciplines, including structural, architectural, and civil. The construction delivery method is a Construction Manager-At-Risk (CMR).
